DigiEcoCity Ltd is a Finnish company, which brings together Finnish and Scandinavian expertise in city planning, construction, environmental issues, mobile technology along with financial and judicial questions. Mauri Tommila is the president of the company.

The DigiEcoCity city format, developed by DigiEcoCity Ltd, is comprised of concept fundamentals connected with design, construction and maintenance of the city unit, which will be based on ecological principals and new innovations in digital technology.

On environmental and ecology issues, the Company collaborates with two leading Scandinavian consulting firms Ramboll Finland Oy and ÅF Group Ab.

Nokia is the collaborating firm on mobile technology issues, Nokia Siemens Networks on ICT infra-structure issues and Kone Corporation on questions related to city logistics. The Company has strong connections to Nordic government authorities, universities and companies in the fields of research of environmental and information technology. Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, Tekes, is supporting the development of concepts.

There is strong interest in this kind of urban development projects in the world in order to create a better world, especially in China, Asia, Middle East and new EU member countries as well as Russia. Nordic experience in the environmental field has been well received worldwide and is now increasingly implemented in planning and construction strategies.

Scandinavian key reference projects of the Company and the collaborating firms are Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm, Sweden and Suurpelto in Espoo, Finland. Hammarby Sjöstad is complete, it has about 20 000 inhabitants and it incorporates many sustainable building innovations. The construction phase of Suurpelto has started and is intended to have 10 000 inhabitants and 10 000 workplaces, it will demonstrate the functional unity of a Garden City of the information era.
